Embracing Natural Charm: A Modern Rustic Wedding at The Green in Cornwall

Updated: Jun 18, 2023

There's something about a rustic wedding that exudes charm and character, and a modern twist on this theme can add a touch of elegance and sophistication to the occasion. The perfect example of this is the lovely Kirsty and Gareth's wedding that took place at The Green in Cornwall, a stunning five-star venue full of natural beauty and surrounded by stunning countryside views.

The couple opted for a modern take on the rustic theme, choosing to hire our rustic items on a DIY basis. It was probably the biggest DIY collection I've ever had and they rocked up in a gorgeous VW campervan and filled it to the brim! They did a fantastic job with styling - the results were stunning and perfectly complemented the natural charm of the venue.

The wedding ceremony took place in the wedding barn, a renovated old milking parlour with whitewashed walls, wooden beams, and an oak floor.

The barn was already decorated with fairy lights and draping, so the couple added copper lanterns and petals to complete the look. It was a beautiful and intimate setting that set the tone for the rest of the day.

The wedding breakfast and party took place in the Red Brick Barn, a space with more wooden beams and brick walls that provided the perfect backdrop for the reception.

The couple chose decor items in neutral tones to complement the natural surroundings, including wooden items, perspex signage, and a neon sign. Blush flowers and plenty of foliage were used to decorate the tables, adding a touch of romance and elegance to the occasion.

The beautiful flower displays were created by Odds and Buds florists. They bought this barrel from Trago and gave it a rustic makeover with wood stain to make the perfect base for these stunning flowers.

They created a memory ladder using vintage photos of their families wedding days, such a lovely way to remember your loved ones.

The cake was made by Kirstys very talented mum - what a stunner! It is sitting on top of a personalised crate the couple made.

We created bespoke perspex wedding signs to blend rustic charm with modern elegance. These personalized signs made from clear acrylic allow the natural backdrops to shine through.

Of course, no wedding is complete without some entertainment, and the couple had plenty of fun activities planned for their guests. They set up our full set of rustic garden games in the beautiful gardens, which kept everyone entertained throughout the afternoon.

Unfortunately, the rain did make an appearance, but umbrellas meant that it didn't stop play. The couple moved some of the games into the Green Room Bar in the afternoon, ensuring that everyone had a good time despite the weather.

The Really Rustic Barn is exactly that and provided a great backdrop for photos.

I love how the couple wanted to include their beloved dog Ted, so he was centre stage in his cute little tuxedo - made by the groom's talented aunt. He even had his own bar and doggie masks!

In the evening, our neon sign lit up the dance floor, and everyone danced the night away. The conga line looked like a lot of fun and it was clear that everyone had a great time.

Overall, this modern rustic wedding was a beautiful and personal celebration that perfectly combined charm and character with elegance and sophistication. From the stunning venue to the unique DIY touches, it was a day that the couple and their guests will always remember. Thank you Kirsty and Gareth for choosing Rustic Love to help with your special day!
